Chris_RIvers_Press_Shot_2016Chris has become an exciting young artist to watch over the past few years, winning Best Singer-Songwriter and Best Song at the 2015 Toronto Independent Music Awards, and placing Top-10 for the Toronto region in CBC Music’s Searchlight Competition with his soul single “Calm Waters”.

Early 2015 saw Chris featured on “Reminding Me,” a collaboration with the Montreal electronic duo Love Thy Brother, as well as a cover duet of John Legend’s “All of Me” with rising country star, Big Machine Records recording artist Trinity Bradshaw. “Reminding Me” premiered on Mr. Revillz and Dancing Astronaut, and was later included in Gareth Emery’s radio show “Electric for Life”.

Born in Toronto Canada, Chris’ musical education began at the Royal Conservatory of Music and at home with his parents. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario with a degree in popular music, Chris spent two years with Opening Day Entertainment Group – an independent classical record label and home of the Canadian Brass. After publishing a number of cover songs, including his breakout cover duet of “All Of Me”, Chris released his first acoustic piano and vocal single under the name Chris Rivers. “Calm Waters” was released under the Opening Night imprint in 2014 and distributed through IDLA.

Alongside his brother, Willis Daellenbach, the two have revived what was originally a Jazz-Pop crossover label, Opening Night Entertainment, into a brand that now features some of the most talented underground electronic artists coming out of Montreal. Currently, Chris is currently recording his debut album with some of Toronto’s best musicians – Michael Shand, Jordan Johns, Calvin Beale & Larnell Lewis. His R&B / Soul album is slated to be released this summer.
